Investours is a non-profit organization that leverages the resources generated by tourism to promote economic development in the communities surrounding Puerto Vallarta in Mexico and Dar es Salaam and Arusha in Tanzania. We bring travelers to meet local artisans who have applied for micro-loans to grow small business projects such as dressmaking, woodcarving, or food vending. The tour group gains an intimate view of the local way of life while directly witnessing the power of microfinance. The group also enjoys a traditional meal and vibrant, off-the-beaten-path sightseeing. Travelers can feel good about this authentic cultural experience, as tour profits provide financial support to the small businesses involved in the tours.

In addition to our “microfinance tours,” Investours provides specialized business consulting for its artisan clients, runs a fair trade cooperative and market  to connect artisans and tourists, and hosts immersion programs that allow foreigners to work with local artisans over longer periods of time.

To provide travelers in Mexico and Tanzania with meaningful cross-cultural interactions that empower micro‐entrepreneurs and directly stimulate local economic growth.

We envision a world in which travelers to developing countries will engage in cross‐cultural interactions that foster an intimate appreciation of local entrepreneurship while contributing towards financial sustainability.

Empowering low-income entrepreneurs to reach their potential will effectively strengthen local economies.

Supporting ethical microfinance creates a powerful and sustainable tool for economic growth.

Cultivating meaningful cross-cultural interaction will foster a more compassionate and responsive global community.

Fostering socially-responsible travel will channel resources from the tourism industry into the communities that need it most.
