Peter Millanga, Tanzania Program Director
Peter, a native of Tanzania, graduated from the University of Dar es Salaam in 2007 with a BA in Geography and Environmental Studies and completed his Masters degree in Geography at Carleton University (Ottawa, Canada). He brings with him extensive experience in development and the tourism industry of Tanzania, as well as a passion for sustainable development.

Ashwin Kaja, President
Ashwin recently graduated from Harvard Law School and founded Investours after graduating from Harvard College in 2007 with an A.B. magna cum laude in Economics, focused on international development and institutions. He has lived, worked, and traveled extensively across the developing world. His experience includes working for the African Development Bank in Tunis, a start-up academy in Beijing, a human rights organization in Bangkok, and the global law firm Hogan Lovells in Washington, DC.
Trip Sweeney, Tourism & Marketing
Trip Sweeney is a post-doctoral research fellow at Stanford University. He received an M.D. with high honors from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in 2009 and a B.A. magna cum laude from Vanderbilt University in 2002. Trip has substantial experience and a large network in the tourism industry. He was a co-founder of StepUp Travel and has spoken at conferences on socially responsible tourism.
Kurt Mansperger, Investours Co-Founder, Finance & Technology Advisor
Kurt is currently a project manager with a small technology consulting firm, Twin Technologies. Before Twin, he worked at Deloitte Consulting, building large eligibility systems for state welfare. He graduated in 2008 from the University of Maryland with a dual degree in Finance and Computer Engineering. Since co-founding Investours in 2008, Kurt has been an integral member of our Board of Directors. His excitement about using innovation to help people is part of what makes him such a great asset to the team.
Anna Ruman, Puerto Vallarta Program Co-Founder
Anna graduated with an A.B. from Harvard College in 2010 and founded the program in Puerto Vallarta. Anna returned to the States to working for a non-profit called Investing in Communities in Chicago before beginning her Doctorate at the Harvard Medical School in 2013.
Ryan Pukos, Puerto Vallarta Program Co-Founder – Ryan worked in political organizing and fundraising for three years before joining Investours. He graduated from Hartwick College with a degree in International Relations in 2007. Ryan remains an active member of the Investours team, helping with grant writing and development.
Kathryn Ranhorn, Tanzania Program Co-Founder – Kathryn graduated from the University of Florida in 2010 with a B.A. summa cum laude in Anthropology and a minor in African Studies. Her work for Investours was partly funded by grants from Davis Projects for Peace and Sustainable Cities.
Heshan “Grasshopper” Illangkoon, Tanzania Program Co-Founder – Heshan is an Astrobiologist by trade and a community development worker by passion. Recently finishing his PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Florida, Grasshopper traveled to Tanzania with Kathryn Ranhorn to bring the Investours model to Dar es Salaam.
